All diaphragms are installed by removing both retaining rings. Older carbs may have metal rings, but they can be cut with a good pair of side cutters in the same manner. Click here to go to JBM home page.
The carburetor is the most common problem area in all small engines. The carburetor is where the fuel mixes with the air to be burnt. Carburetors are on almost all types of combustion engines.
Hello again everyone, Lets restore a set of carbs for this old Honda! But the single best reason I have found to go to this extreme is that there is almost nothing else that will make an old motorcycle run like new again the way a complete carburetor refurbishment will. Here you see the four carburetors, along with a flathead screwdriver, a JIS screwdriver, a set of mini wrenches and a ratchet with a socket. Although these a very similar to the piston valve or round slide carbs used on a number vintage motorcycles these do have a few differences from the older ones.

The Keihin carburetor has been a fixture on Honda Motorcycles since the late s. Before thatmany Japanese bike manufacturers had used licensed copies of Amal carburetors on many models. Keihin developed a fairly standardized carburetor design, which was applied to most Honda models from the 50cc C Sports Cub to the mighty CB Fours. The popular cc models from the s carried either 22mm or 26mm versions on nearlymotorcycles.
The carburetors on most of our old bikes are quite simple, and experience says that success hinges on two key issues: cleanliness and thoroughness. It takes more than a simple strip-down and cleaning with a can of carburetor spray to get good results. To do it right, you have to thoroughly soak and clean the carburetor body so that any trace of dirt is removed.
